Russell Barton, program director for manufacturing enterprise systems and service enterprise systems at the National Science Foundation, was the first of three keynote speakers at the IIE Annual IE Conference and Expo. Barton delivered his address, which was filled with pop quizzes for attendees on engineering quotes, on May 20. His presentation highlighted past, current and future industrial engineering research based on research sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation and current research initiatives within the foundation.
