work systems (Ws) division teaching recognition award
Purpose:
As the demands of industry to deliver both efficiency and effectiveness climb to new levels, time is the new currency. Work Measurement (WM) is a fundamental building block that enables ISEs to understand time and build solutions that optimize around it. WM is currently undergoing a “modernization” as new tools, technologies and techniques allow data collection/analysis to be more agile, granular and accessible. To rebuild awareness and reinforce the importance of WM, the Work Systems Division has launched a campaign labeled "It’s All About Time." To help raise the “fun level,” we would like to engage students and/or faculty to nominate teachers who have developed courses and/or content that support the evolution of Work Measurement.
Application process:
- The nominated candidate must be a member of IISE and the Work Systems Division.
- The course for which they are being nominated must be within an industrial engineering (or closely related) program.
- The course can either be entirely focused on Work Systems/Measurement/Design or contain specific content that supports the evolution and modernization of Work Measurement.
- Both undergraduate and graduate courses are acceptable.
- Course materials for which they are being nominated must have been developed and taught by the candidate.
- Work Systems Board members may not be nominated while they are serving on the Board.
- Nominations may be made by a student or a group of students who have taken the course, or a faculty colleague.
- Nomination packages must contain the following:
• Letters of support from the nominator and two other individuals; at least one of the letters must be from a faculty member in the same department and one from a student who has completed the course
• Course syllabus and supporting items such as samples of different instructional materials
• Summary copies of teaching evaluations (for the course the being recognized)
• Curriculum vitae of the candidate
• A one-page reflective statement by the individual being nominated
Evaluation process:
Nominations will be evaluated by the Work Systems Division Board. Key metrics will include Creativity/Innovation, Applied Learning and Student Satisfaction. One nominee will be recognized each year and an award will be presented each year at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo. The Work Systems Board will notify those chosen for recognition by March 24.
All nomination packages should be submitted in PDF format to
ideas@allabouttime.org. The deadline for nomination is March 1, and the recognition selection will be made by March 24.
