Effort does not equal excellence

In academia, an unpleasant task as each semester closes is reading through lots of assignments and assigning grades. Even more difficult: Facing an unhappy learner who insists they put in lots of effort and deserve a higher grade. I was reminded of the fallacy of such logic in, “No, You Don’t Get an A for Effort” (The New York Times, Dec. 26, 2024).
