Pre-Conference Workshops

Morning workshops include “Practical Applications of Leadership Principles to Enhance Your Ergonomics Program” with Tami Blackwell and “Wearable Sensors: A Comprehensive Overview” with Marisol Barrero, Jesse Jacobs, Joe Hitt and Ryan Porto. Afternoon pre-conference workshop will feature “How to Use and Apply the Most Recent Ergonomic Task Analysis Tools” with Nick La Delfa. There will also be a full-day workshop, “Ergonomics Certification – Preparing to Take the BCPE Exam” with Robert Smillie.

Tuesday, March 28

AEC Morning Walk

Start your day with a morning walk. Walks will take place outside weather permitting, or inside throughout the hotel if raining.

Keynote Presentation

Stephen Jenkins is the Tuesday keynote speaker. He has achieved industry-best injury and vehicle collision rates and garnered numerous awards, including eight ergonomics awards from the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers.

Facility Tours – Intralox

(Registration & Fee Required)
Intralox tour will cover the production of conveying systems, focusing on operations in Extrusion, Plastics, and Assembly areas. We will view ergonomics solutions such as material handling equipment and automation, small conveyance applications, and manual assembly workstations and solutions (including hand-tool solution). One application of the use of the Lapeyre stairs for use in a confined space. Looking forward to an exchange of questions and answers along the way!

Step back into the glamour and romance of the riverboat era with a cruise aboard the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen! Experience the lively sounds of traditional New Orleans music while enjoying a lavish Creole Buffet in an elegantly appointed dining room. After dinner, and maybe a little dancing, enjoy a classic New Orleans cocktail and sweet Mississippi River breezes on our promenade deck as the city skyline slips by under a canopy of stars. This nighttime cruise is pure New Orleans.

Keynote Presentation

Lashawn Boulware is the Wednesday keynote speaker. She leads hardware and software user-interface-evaluations to improve astronaut operability and situational awareness in preparation for NASA's Artemis missions to the Moon. She is a graduate of the Lockheed Martin Space Advanced Technical Leadership Program.

Facility Tour – Cintas Corporation Location 544

The tour will provide insight on how we launder uniforms and bulk products. A few ergonomic improvements are:

  • Office – stand/sit desks
  • Production – Veit system, hanger holders, Solude handles, folding tables, Vortex mat roller, automated shuttle, wash alley, work platforms, EZ tote rollers, chemical dry tank lighting, and anti-fatigue mats
  • Service – SafeLoad, carts

Thursday, March 30

Facility Tour – NASA Michoud Plant

(Registration & Fee Required)
Via a tram tour, participants will see the core stage of the Artemis rocket starting with the panels up to the completed 4 stage liquid hydrogen and liquid nitrogen tanks. Note since this is a live factory, some elements may not be at the factory at the time of the tour.
